Falls are common as we get older, but many falls are preventable. The right exercises can improve strength, balance, and confidence — especially when they’re tailored to your home setup.
Before you start
Use a stable support (kitchen counter or sturdy chair)
Wear supportive footwear
Stop if you feel dizzy or unwell
If you’ve recently had surgery or a fall, get professional advice first
Simple balance and strength exercises
Sit-to-stand from a chair (build leg strength)
Heel raises holding support (improves ankle strength)
Marching on the spot holding support (improves control)
Side steps along a counter (improves hip strength and balance)
How often should you do them?
Consistency matters more than intensity. A short routine 3–5 times per week is a good starting point, then we progress safely as your confidence improves.
